Economics can play a key role in a player’s development because the amount of financial resources available for coaching, equipment, travel, tournament fees and other expenses can determine the level to which the player progresses.
The game of tennis requires a lot of extensive coaching and technical guidance, and over time, lessons can get expensive for parents. Sometimes, less-fortunate players who are aware of the expenses that often come with tennis may either feel pressure to do well or will feel guilty about taking more lessons and pick up a less expensive sport. In this case, the coach or parent should know where economic aid is available for less privileged players.
It is often best that a player not be aware of the financial impact that tennis has on the family’s economic situation because then it is one less worry on the player’s mind. |
